Traditional Wollmarkt (wool market) in Bad Berleburg on 5th May 2019
An animal pleasure
Traditional celebrations, that's what the people of Bad Berleburg are known for.
Here in Bad Berleburg they offer the people of Wittgenstein and their guests a the traditional Wollmarkt (wool market) on the market square – free of charge – the first Sunday in may.
Not all guests will get away unshorn on that day. At least, not the four-legged friends among them, because in the market place visitors can watch live how the sheep lose their winter coat and are shorn. Step by step the shearer will explain, how the fur is processed, twirled to thread, to fiber and spin the wool. Rabbits of different breeds will be a tryst on the market place and the fluffy guests are a real pleasure to the young audience.
The Poststraße turns into a boulevard from 11 am to 6 pm as the retailers open their shops. In addition, many exhibitors invite visitors to wander around as well as to enjoy many savory or sweet treats.
